General History

The West Allis Knights of Columbus Council was formed in 1948 through men of strong faith and commitment.  The Council quickly became a standard for KC councils in the area and a major source of support within the faith and community activities in West Allis and neighboring communities.

Land was purchased for a Council clubhouse on 92nd street in West Allis and our first clubhouse was completed in 1957.  The growth of our Council, and its importance within the West Allis community led to a major expansion in the early 1970s, which was utilized through 2017.

The Council thrived during these years with programs encompassing faith, charity, the young & old, healthy & disabled, celebrations of all types, fraternity and beyond.

Please enjoy the links in this section for some well written summaries of our history.

Recent History

In 2017 our Council was approached by the City of West Allis and Chr. Hansen Company, proposing the sale of our clubhouse property to Chr. Hansen to enable the expansion of their manufacturing operations.  After much discussion among the Council members, we agreed to the sale of the property.  It was a very difficult decision given the history and memories of our clubhouse, but it has become a blessing for us, allowing our Council to utilize the funds from the sale of the property to invest and provide substantial charitable donations to a wide range of needs.

We currently have approximately 150 Council members, with a smaller core group that is very active in our volunteer and financial support of Faith, Special Need, Life and Community causes.  We continue to expand our reach with our partner parishes of Mother of Perpetual Help and St. Barnabas Congregation in West Allis, along with Holy Apostles in New Berlin.  The beneficiaries of our volunteer and financial donations has expanded as well.  Please take time to check the links to the left, and see more information in the WA 3095 In Action and Our Partners pages in this website.

We also continue to have numerous fraternity activities within the Council and with family and friends, including bowling, dartball, retiree lunches, golfing, memorial masses and more.

We take tremendous pride in the positive impact we are having in the area, and are working to continue our rich tradition and legacy for many years to come.
